Every veteran deserves the dignity of Taps at final honors. Our first choice is a live bugler. We support the musicians and volunteer networks that keep that tradition alive.
The Taps Bugle™ exists for the gap—when a trained live bugler cannot be found in time, it provides a respectful stand-in so a family is not left without Taps. It is not a replacement for live musicians; it is a bridge when live coverage is unavailable.
Technology should fill a gap, not erase a tradition. We support the mission of Taps for Veterans and Taps Across America, which help keep live Taps sounding and encourage musicians to carry the tradition forward.
If a live bugler can be secured, that is the preferred choice. When one cannot be found in time, the Taps Bugle™ stands in so the ceremony can still include a dignified sounding of Taps.
The electronics are fully integrated into the instrument. There are no removable inserts, external speakers, or awkward parts to install before a service. The bugle remains a complete, professional ceremonial instrument.
The instrument is dedicated to Taps. There is no library of bugle calls to navigate during a ceremony, reducing the chance of selecting the wrong call when the moment matters most.
USB-C charging, weather-resistant construction, integrated controls, and adjustable output are designed for the realities of indoor chapels, outdoor cemeteries, changing weather, and repeated ceremonial use.
The Taps Bugle uses an internal acoustic transducer system to drive the instrument itself rather than simply placing a loudspeaker inside a brass shell.
Natural resonance: the instrument body participates in producing the sound.
Integrated design: the electronics remain discreet and the horn retains a traditional ceremonial appearance.
Controlled projection: adjustable output supports both indoor and outdoor services.
Simple deployment: charge it, prepare it, and carry it to the ceremony as one complete instrument.
The recordings used in the Taps Bugle were performed by active-duty and retired U.S. military buglers in Washington, D.C. and captured at 24-bit / 96 kHz resolution.
Breath, articulation, pacing, and musical shape are preserved so the result retains the character of a human performance rather than sounding synthesized.
